Last week
Walter Fitch, a founder of the field of molecular evolution, passed off. He, among many other contributions to the field of Molecular evolution, coined the concepts of orthology and paralogy. Therefore, Fitch's seminal work provide the foundations of a big part of what I am doing now. He left us, but his work will still propel current research in phylogenetics and comparative genomics.
